With so much experience under my belt I thought it would be helpful to list some of the frequently asked questions that I get asked. Hopefully these FAQs help shed some light on topics that you're unclear about when it comes to producing effective websites.
Each website is unique so there is no way to answer the question of cost in general. I work to a budget you are comfortable with. Being upfront about your budget is th best solution and might feel uncomfortable because you're afraid of being over charged. I get that. I am totally transparent about my service so rest assured I will not being doing that.Usually costs for websites are underestimated by clients, just because not many people realise how much work goes into creating on properly.
Producing a website means teamwork. I have the knowledge and experience and you are an expert in your business. Together we can produce something great, working with you to guide you every step of the way.
Put very simply the process is:
- to define what the website should achieve for you and your audience
- planning the website, developing a prototype, which shows how the website will work
- designing the look and feel
- adding content, which you can add yourself or we can do add the content for you
- testing and preparation for going live
This depends on the complexity of the website. For simple websites it can be about 4 - 8 weeks to prepare the website ready for a live environment. Projects sometimes take a long time to launch because the content of the website is not ready. Quality content can take a long time to prepare so the sooner you get onto this the better. It is an area that is usually underestimated.
I hear a lot that people don’t think that their writing skills are up scratch. You are an expert in your business and know it better than anyone so we don’t write your content for you but we have recommended and reasonably priced copywriters that can help you. They will take your rough content and polish it into something that reads well and promotes your business in the best way. Just ask.

There is no way to definitely answer this question because it depends on a number of factors defined by the search engines. Having relevant regularly updated content is paramount for achieving results and it is a case of defining what you think your audience are going to type in to a search engine to find you and then optimising the content of your web pages for those keywords - phew! Not complicated, just time consuming. The process is called Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
This is the process of defining keywords or phrases that your audience might use to find you on a search engine and then, for each keyword, tailoring the content of a web page to score well for the chosen keyword. There is more to it but that is it in a nutshell.
A content management system or CMS is a way of creating a website with a web based control panel. You can log in to make changes to the content easily without needing any technical skills. It saves you time and money by putting you in control of the website content. We use WordPress as our preferred CMS.
